DON’T PANIC BUT CHRISTMAS IS COMING! Your normal health and fitness routine may take a bit of hit but there’s no need to give up and go crazy. You’ll only have more work to do in the new year.

Here’s some useful  tips to stay fit and in shape over the Christmas period:

  1. Stay hydrated.

Drink as much water as you can throughout the day. Aim for minimum of 1.7-2L a day. Carry a bottle with lemon water if you want.

  1. Go easy on the alcohol.

Have a soft drink in-between the alcohol or better yet if you drink beer, make sure it’s light and switch between alcohol free.

  1. Keep training.

Exercising doesn’t have to be a full hour at the gym – just half an hour a day will do. Some gyms maybe shut over the Christmas period but most stay open, and they are empty. Why not try a 20 min HIIT session in the lounge using just your bodyweight to burn off at least one mince pie.

  1. Eat a balanced diet.

This is easier said than done, especially during party season. Ditch the sausage rolls and pizza bites for nuts and fruit as much as possible and remember, you can turn down second helpings!

  1. Keep active.

After dinner go for walk, walk round the block before you start the evening session or get outside with the kids and their new bikes, balls or scooters and get stuck in playing. Anything that keeps your energy levels .

You’ve worked hard all year so there’s nothing wrong with embracing and full-out enjoying all that comes with the festive season, but be wise and disciplined. January is just round the corner so limit the damage!
