Do you need a few tips on how to keep progressing? We’ve all been there and we hate it. You hit a training plateau or you’re just plain bored with your workout routine. So now what?
Conquer your mind
- Before anything else- change your mindset.
- Remember why you started.
- Get focused again on what your goals are and why you’re doing it.
- Re-motivate yourself by digging deep and finding that reason why you decided to start in the first place.
Then, every time you step into the gym, your goal must be to either:
- Lift more weight.
- Do more reps with the same weight.
- Find ways/strategies/methods that force you to lift more weight or do more reps.
Make sure you track your progress so you know what you achieved previously and how to beat it.
The two simplest and most effective ways to get better is tracking weights and reps . Your ability to conquer your plateau comes down to how well you progress in those two areas.
PUSH YOURSELF, BUT DON’T FORCE IT.
Always enter the gym with a competitive mindset. There will be days when you’re feeling off. Maybe you’re not feeling well or work is extra stressful or your kids kept you up half the night. Here, don’t push yourself, but put in the work to do the workout. The only bad workout is the one that didn’t happen. On days you’re feeling great, push yourself.
MEASURE LONG TERM PROGRESS
The key is sticking with it consistently enough to see measurable progress again. Weeks or months might go by where you barely see any measurable change. But over a period of months, you should be able to see some measurable progress.
PICK A FEW COMPOUND EXERCISES FOR THE MAIN MUSCLE GROUPS OR FOCUS ON A WEAK POINT.
Instead of adding weight on every set of every exercise can seem very overwhelming for most people. Try selecting certain compound moves or if you have a weak point focus on steadily progressing in these areas. The positive reinforcement will get your mindset in the right gear towards achieving your goals.
